This state government initiative aims to offer irrigation facilities to farmers in the form of borewell drilling or open well excavation, accompanied by the installation of pump sets and necessary accessories. The government has allocated a targeted budget of Rs 1.50 lakh to Rs 3 lakh for individual borewell projects. This funding covers expenses such as borewell drilling, pump set supply, and an electrification deposit of Rs 50,000. Additionally, eligible districts including Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, and Tumkur will receive a subsidy of Rs 3.5 lakh, while other districts will be provided with a subsidy of Rs 2 lakh under this scheme.

The primary goal of the Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme is to ensure a steady water supply for agricultural land owned by farmers in Karnataka. Many farmers in the state are currently experiencing challenges related to inadequate water flow in their fields due to a lack of pipelines and inefficient water distribution. To address this issue, the state government has initiated this scheme, which aims to provide irrigation facilities to these farmers by installing pump sets and necessary accessories through the drilling of borewells or excavation of open wells. Benefits And Features Of Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme 2023
- Under the Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme, beneficiaries will receive irrigation facilities for their agricultural land through the drilling of bore wells or excavation of open wells, alongside the installation of pump sets and necessary accessories.
- For individual borewell projects, the government has allocated Rs 1.50 lakh to Rs 3 lakh. This amount will cover expenses such as borewell drilling, supply of pump sets, and an additional Rs 50,000 for the electrification deposit.
- A subsidy of Rs 3.5 lakhs will be provided to the districts of Bangalore Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, and Tumkur under this scheme.
- Other than that subsidy of Rs 2 lakh to the other districts will be provided.
- The scheme provides a fixed unit cost of Rs 4 lakhs for up to 8 acres of land and Rs 6 lakhs for 15 acres of land. It is important to note that the entire cost under the scheme will be considered as a subsidy.
- These facilities will be extended to farmlands owned by farmers situated near rivers. This will be achieved by drawing pipelines from the water sources and installing pump motors and necessary accessories to ensure a steady water supply for irrigation purposes.
- The government aims to provide suitable irrigation facilities to farmers by utilizing perennial water sources or implementing water lifting through pipelines. This initiative is aimed at ensuring a reliable and consistent water supply for agricultural purposes.
- This scheme is exclusively available for small or marginal farmers belonging to minority communities.
- In cases where perennial water sources are unavailable, the corporation will offer loans to individuals for the construction of bore wells near water points.
- The corporation will bear the entire cost of constructing a bore well, amounting to 1.5 lakh rupees, with the aim of promoting agricultural activities.
Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must belong to the minority community.
- Applicant must be a permanent resident of Karnataka.
- The candidate must be of a small or marginal farmer.
- The annual family income of the farmer from all sources should not exceed Rs 96000 per annum Rs 1.03 lakh in urban areas.
- The age of the applicant should be between 18 to 55 years.
